Frazier Simplex Alumni join up with current team at the Buckeye Open Match

Emma Uchida met up with four of Frazier Simplex rifle team during the 1st annual Dr. John C. Fellingham Buckeye Open at The Ohio State University on November 17, 2013. It sure was great to meet up with one of our alumni during the match. Kiboh Uchida competed the week before in this match and missed his sister. Team Coach, Tom Bennedict also competed in this match in the "open class."

Little about the Buckeye Open:
Over 135 collegiate, junior and open shooters competed in the Buckeye Open over the past two weekends. The event was held at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range in Converse Hall and featured competition on Ohio State’s electronic target systems. Collegiate teams from Murray State, Columbus State, Army and Morehead State competed with Ohio State alongside junior and open competitors from around the region.

Tommy, Ariana and Chris spent the day before at the CMP North Range at Camp Perry shooting in the monthly Air Rifle matches where Ariana took second place overall in the International (all standing) Air Rifle competition.

John Paul Grabowski shot in the 3P match at the CMP North Range in the Sporter Class on Saturday. He fired an excellent score for his very first match and placed 13 out of 35 competitors.

Congratulations to all of the competitors! Fantastic Job!

Team X Factor takes the Gold Medal at the annual Dixie Double

Out of 54 competitors, Ariana finished 4th in the individual junior division, 18th overall, and 1st overall team with SPC Erin Lorenzen (as Team X Factor).

The Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), USA Olympic Developmental, World Cup competitors and junior shooters from all over the US came to Anniston, Alabama during the weekend of November 9 & 10, to compete in the 4th Annual Anniston Marksmanship Center Dixie Double. This match offered 60-shot international air rifle standing and 60-shot air pistol events for junior and open men and women. USA Shooting sanctioned this match as a PSA/PSI match and as a PTO. The match was a two-day event where competitors fired one 60-shot event on each of the two days.

CMP National 3P Postal Championship

Sporter or Precision Air Rifles ONLY
Course of Fire: 3x10 (1st phase)

Phase 1:  Postal Competition
CMP sponsors a nationwide three position air rifle postal (mail-in or correspondence) competition for all junior programs including all JROTC, 4H, Boy Scouts, and junior clubs. The top shooters in these matches will qualify for the CMP Regional Championships. This is a 3x10 match and is open for both sporter and precision competitors. This phase will be shot here at Frazier Simplex in December or January. (All targets must be sent in by February 1, 2014)

Phase 2:  Regional Championships
The CMP Regional Championships will occur in three different locations around the country.  Athletes qualifying for this match Phase 1 above.  This match will consist of a practice, check-in and equipment control day followed by two days of 3x20 matches.  A final will be held on the last day for the top 8 individuals in sporter and precision.  This match is scheduled for: March 27-29, 2014 at Camp Perry, Port Clinton, OH.

Phase 3:  National Championships
The CMP National Championship is the final event in the CMP three-position air rifle championships. Qualification for this match comes from the CMP Regional Championships as well as the State 3PAR Junior Olympic matches. This match will consist of one 3x20 with finals for the top eight shooters in sporter and precision. This match is scheduled for: June 25 (sporter) & 28 (precision), 2014 at Camp Perry, Port Clinton, OH.

Fee: There is a $5 entry fee for the first phase of this tournament.

American Legion 24th Junior 3-Position Air Rifle Tournament

Sporter or Precision Air Rifles ONLY
Course of Fire: 3 x 20

The Individual Tournament has three phases of competition: 1) Preliminary Round – State/Regional Championships; 2) Qualification Round; and 3) National Championships

The Team Tournament has two phases of competition:  1) Preliminary Round – State/Regional Championships; 2) National Championships.

Both of the first two stages are paper (postal) matches and will be shot here at Frazier Simplex. The first match will be shot in December or January (date to be decided by match director). If you qualify for the second match, it will be shot sometime in mid to late March, 2014.

The top 15 shooters in the country (both Sporter and Precision) will be invited (with most of your expenses paid) to shoot in the National Championship Tournament, July 29 – August 2, 2014, USA Shooting Facility, United States Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, CO.

Age Limits: Competitors who have reached their 18th birthday or are a graduate of high school, class of 2014, and those younger are eligible to participate.

Fee: There is a $10 entry fee for the first phase of this tournament.
