Young Men of Frazier Simplex at the 2015 National Junior Olympic Championships

Congratulations and best of luck to the young men of Frazier Simplex Jr. Rifle Club who are currently participating in the 2015 National Junior Olympic Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

They are: Thomas Welch, Matt Lovre, Christopher Thomas and Luke Knowlinger.

Our congratulations goes out to all of the PA competitors from all of our great clubs throughout the Commonwealth. Frazier Simplex at the 2015 National Junior Olympic Championships

Seven Pennsylvania Precision 3P Air Rifle Teams Invited to the National Championships

On June 22-26, 2015, the National Three Position Air Rifle Championships will be held at the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Competition Center South range in Anniston, Alabama.

Of the 27 precision air rifle teams invited to this prestigious event, seven of them are from Pennsylvania. This represents 26% of the precision teams invited to this 3rd annual event. It also goes to prove that Pennsylvania has a great program to continue feeding our NCAA D1 colleges and possible Olympians.

Congratulations to the six clubs that make up the seven precision teams. The clubs represented are: 
DuBois
Frazier Simplex (2 teams)
Oil City
Ontelaunee
Palmyra
Seitzland

Also, congratulations to Amanda Ruffner who was invited to compete as an individual from the Alexandria club.

Junior Olympic PA State Championships

The 2015 Pennsylvania Junior Olympic State Championships concluded on Sunday, January 4th at the Jerome Sportsmans Club. Nearly 100 juniors competed this year vying to become the State Champion. Only one boy or girl can be crowned State Champion for Smallbore and Air Rifle, but everyone can shoot to achieve the minimum cut score and be automatically qualified to receive and invitation to the National Championships to be held at the Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado in April.

Of the four boys and four girls that competed in this competition from Frazier Simplex, Cassidy Fairman was the only one to achieve the minimum cut score with a 566 in smallbore (565 was the minimum). The other competitors will have to wait and see if they will be invited.


Cassidy won J2 Silver with a 378 15x in Air Rifle &
J2 Gold with a 566 20x in Smallbore.

Team X Factor takes the Gold Medal at the annual Dixie Double

Out of 54 competitors, Ariana finished 4th in the individual junior division, 18th overall, and 1st overall team with SPC Erin Lorenzen (as Team X Factor).

The Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), USA Olympic Developmental, World Cup competitors and junior shooters from all over the US came to Anniston, Alabama during the weekend of November 9 & 10, to compete in the 4th Annual Anniston Marksmanship Center Dixie Double. This match offered 60-shot international air rifle standing and 60-shot air pistol events for junior and open men and women. USA Shooting sanctioned this match as a PSA/PSI match and as a PTO. The match was a two-day event where competitors fired one 60-shot event on each of the two days.

50 Feet Rifle 3 Positions:
20 shots in the standing position with a 45 minute time limit.
20 shots in the prone position with a 25 minute time limit.
20 shots in the kneeling position with a 37 minute time limit.

10 Meter Air Rifle
60 shot standing position-Men with a 25 minute / 20 record shots time limit.
40 shot standing position-Women with a 25 minute / 20 record shots time limit.

Small-bore: NRA/USAS-50
Air Rifle: NRA AR-5/10
Classification:
Sub-Junior – (J3) to age 14 born in 2000 or later
Intermediate Junior – (J2) age 15-17 born 1997, 1998, 1999
Junior – (J1) age 18-20 born 1994, 1995, 1996
Other:
Targets will be scored by representatives of the Frazier Simplex Rifle Club.

All challenges and protests will be decided by a jury selected by the match director.

There will be a $2.00 challenge fee imposed for each target card challenged. No fee will be charged if the challenge is to verify addition of the score.

The Chief Statistical Officer will review the challenge for score. Challenged shot holes will go directly to the jury to settle the challenge, with no appeal. Shots not plugged can be plugged. Previously plugged shots will not be re-plugged. The score could go up or down on a challenge.

Coaching is prohibited.

Only competitors and Range Officer will be permitted in range during event due to limited space on range. Everyone else must remain in ready room.

3rd Place in the USA Shooting 3PAR Championship - July 12, 2013

The all girl team from Frazier Simplex again met the challenge of a 2nd day of competition and placed 3rd overall among 37 teams in the event. Their 4 person aggregate score of 2322 with 139 X's, was only 8 points below the first place team.
Again, congratulations to the Coach Tom Benedict and shooters pictured above (left to right). Nicholle Thiry, Nicholle Benedict, Ariana Grabowski & Morgan Duerr on an excellent second day.

Ariana also won a 4th place overall individual title for this competition. Her final score of 100.9 was 0.1 point below 3rd place. Congratulations on some great shooting.
